Guardião

Guardião: a collaborative safety network using geolocation to request and offer help

A mutual assistance platform where users report incidents, request or offer help, and check information about high-risk areas, 24 hours a day.

Context

Many everyday incidents — a robbery, a lost animal, a dangerous situation — remain unresolved because victims, people with information, and authorities do not communicate. Guardião grew out of decades of security sector experience to bridge that gap in urban and rural areas.

What we built

  • Incident reports with location data.
  • Requests and offers of help among nearby users, using geolocation.
  • Information about locations in advance, helping users take precautions in higher-risk areas.
  • Communication between those involved in an incident.
  • An administration dashboard for moderation and monitoring.

The challenge

Community safety depends on speed: people requesting help need to be seen within seconds by those able to assist, with reliable location data. During the pandemic, the scope expanded to a broader collaborative approach, from robberies to lost animals, while retaining simplicity for use in stressful moments.

Results

Guardião became a mutual assistance community: users seek or offer help based on geolocation and check regional risk information. Beyond conventional security, it encourages neighbors to work together and support one another.
