Pricing

What determines the cost of an app?

App pricing depends on the scope. These five factors explain why projects with different requirements need different budgets:

  1. Screens and workflows. A loyalty app and a marketplace have different user journeys. Each workflow needs design, implementation, and testing.
  2. Integrations. Payments, ERP, CRM, invoicing, messaging, and maps each have their own interfaces and error conditions. A legacy system without an API may need more integration work than a documented service.
  3. Offline operation and synchronization. If the app must work without internet access and synchronize later, that behavior adds development and testing requirements.
  4. User roles and administration tools. Customers, drivers, sellers, and managers need different permissions and screens. Administration tools are part of both the scope and the value of the product.
  5. Compliance and security. Health information, payments, and children’s data can bring additional requirements. Identify the applicable requirements during discovery and include the agreed controls in the scope.

What does not determine the price here: hours billed. After discovery, you receive a fixed price. If the scope changes, we agree on the impact before you approve the additional work.

Choosing a partner

How to choose an app development company

Six questions to ask before hiring:

AskWhy it matters
Will I own the source code?Clarify ownership and handoff. At Megaleios, source code and documentation are transferred after full payment.
Are the price and timeline fixed?Make sure the proposal defines the scope, price, timeline, and process for agreeing on changes.
Who designs the solution?Business requirements need to reach the people building the product. You work directly with the person making technical decisions.
Who handles app store submission?Preparing listings and managing store review are part of launch. Confirm who is responsible.
What happens after launch?Apps need maintenance as platforms and integrations change. Warranty and ongoing support should be defined in the agreement.
Do the case studies show measured results?Ask what was delivered and how results were measured. Retention, downloads, and revenue describe different outcomes.
Common mistakes

Common mistakes when commissioning your first app

  • Starting without a business problem. “I want an app” needs a defined outcome, such as reducing abandoned phone orders. Discovery turns the problem into a scope.
  • Putting every feature in the first release. Each feature adds time, cost, and risk. Launch the essentials, measure use, and improve with real feedback.
  • Forgetting administration tools. The app is the visible part. Your staff also needs tools to manage records, approve actions, respond, and report.
  • Leaving maintenance out of the budget. Stores, operating systems, and integrations change. Plan for support and continued development after launch.
  • Choosing on price alone. A weak implementation can require substantial rework. Evaluate the delivery approach as well as the quote.

FAQ

App development questions

How much does app development cost?

It depends on scope. The five factors above explain the main cost drivers. After discovery, you receive a fixed quote rather than hourly billing.

How long does it take?

An app MVP typically takes 4–6 development weeks; complex projects take 8–10. Discovery, design, and store submission add time, typically making the full engagement two to four months.

Flutter, React Native, or native development?

Flutter and React Native support iOS and Android with shared code. We choose according to requirements such as camera access, maps, offline behavior, and integrations.

Do you build apps for startups?

Yes. For a startup, we focus on the minimum scope needed to test a hypothesis with real users and a foundation that supports continued development.

What about an established business?

Yes. These apps often connect to an existing ERP, CRM, or inventory system and need administration tools. We map those requirements before quoting.

Do you submit apps to the stores?

Yes. We handle store listings, screenshots, and the submission process. Privacy information must reflect the product and your approved policy.

Will I own the code?

Yes. Source code and documentation are transferred after full payment.

What happens after launch?

A 60-day warranty covers post-launch defect fixes. A separate monthly plan supports new features, platform updates, and monitoring.

Do you build apps for small and midsize businesses?

Yes. We work with small and midsize businesses, startups, and larger companies using the same defined-scope, fixed-price approach.

Do you also serve businesses in Brazil?

Yes. Our Brazilian operation serves businesses nationwide, with in-person meetings in São Paulo when appropriate.

Do you work with companies in Brazil?

Yes. Megaleios serves companies in Brazil and the United States in English and Portuguese, with a U.S. company based in Orlando, Florida.
